Terms of use

Every patient, family member, ward and conversation in ChaplainSim is fictional. Nothing here describes a real person or a real encounter. The purpose is rehearsal: to let you try a response and see a plausible consequence, in private, before you are at a real bedside.

Feedback in ChaplainSim offers one defensible reading of the route you took. It is not an instruction about how to care for a real patient, not a clinical recommendation, and not a statement about any real clinical situation. Where a scenario touches on medical matters, it does so to describe the chaplain’s position in a conversation, never to give clinical guidance.

ChaplainSim is not a clinical system and must not be used as one. Do not record real patient information in it. Anything you write is a personal training note, not part of any patient’s care record, and it carries none of the protections or obligations that a real record does.

There is no grade, no score, no pass, no fail, no ranking, and no certificate. Outcome descriptions such as “the conversation stayed open” describe where a fictional conversation went. They are not measures of your ability, and they must not be used by anyone to make a decision about your training, employment, or fitness to practise.

Nobody sees a conversation you have not shared. If your cohort has been set an assignment, a supervisor can see that you completed it and when — a date, never what you said, what you chose, or what you wrote afterwards. Sharing a conversation is your decision each time, and sharing the reflection with it is a separate decision again.

ChaplainSim adds to supervision; it does not stand in for it. Your institution’s policies, your safeguarding and escalation procedures, and your supervisor’s guidance take precedence over anything you read here, always. In an emergency, follow your local emergency procedure — ChaplainSim has no role in a real clinical situation.

Access is by invitation and is personal to you. Please do not share your sign-in codes or let someone else use your account. We may withdraw access if the pilot ends or if an account is being used in a way that risks the privacy of others.

Scenario content is original work owned by the operator of ChaplainSim and is provided for your personal training use while your account is active. You may not copy, republish or redistribute it. What you write in your reflections is yours, and we claim no rights over it.

ChaplainSim needs a live connection, may be taken down for maintenance, and changes over time. We aim for it to be there when you need it and we back it up daily, but we do not promise a particular uptime, and you should not rely on it as the only place your notes live. You can export everything you have written at any time.

The free plan costs nothing and requires no card. Paid plans are $9 a month for an individual, and $96 per seat, per year for an organisation, charged for the number of seats it holds. Prices exclude any applicable tax and are shown before you confirm.

• It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Individual plans renew monthly; organisation plans renew yearly.
• You can cancel at any time from your account. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and is not cut short.
• Changing seats mid-term is charged pro rata — add a seat in month two of a year and you pay for ten months of it, not twelve.
• We never see your card. Payments are handled by Stripe on their own pages.

If ChaplainSim is not what you expected, write to us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. After that, cancelling stops the next charge rather than refunding the current period.

If we take a payment in error, or the service is unusable for a sustained period through our fault, tell us and we will put it right — that is not a discretionary goodwill gesture, it is what you are owed. Nothing here limits rights you have under Singapore consumer law.

We may change prices or these terms. If a change affects what you pay or materially reduces what you get, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and it will not take effect until your next renewal. If you do not want it, cancel before then and nothing changes for the period you have paid for.

Both pages carry a version and an effective date at the top so you can see when they last moved.

You can stop at any time: cancel your subscription, or delete your account entirely from the account page. Deleting removes your conversations, feedback, reflections and report text. We keep invoice records, because tax law requires it, and anonymous event counts with anything that could identify you removed.

We may suspend or end an account that is being used in a way that risks other people’s privacy, that attempts to break the service, or that has an unpaid balance after we have asked. Where we can, we will say why and give you a chance to put it right first. If we end a paid account for anything other than those reasons, we refund the unused part of what you paid.

We are responsible for running the service with reasonable care, for keeping what you write private as described on the Privacy page, and for putting billing errors right.

We are not responsible for decisions made in real clinical situations. ChaplainSim is rehearsal with fictional patients; it is not advice, not supervision, and not a source of clinical guidance. Where the law allows a limit, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before it arose — which for a free account is nothing. We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
